Today the new version 2.11.0 of EasyMail newsletter plugin is downloadable on WP.org.
It includes a new feature to be compliant about GDPR: the “Re-permission” campaign.
I’m not a lawyer but I think it’s not mandatory to send a re-permission campaign for your subscribers. But, if you need an explicit consent, a re-pemission newsletter should be sent to ask the recipients to give you permission to send further newsletters.
As you can see in screenshot, now there is a new metabox in newsletter edit screen where you can select “This is a Re-permission campaign“.
That means:
- all the selected recipients of this newsletter will be automatically deactivated: each subscriber will be deactivated the moment this newsletter is sent to him/her.
- you must include the new [CONFIRMATION-LINK] / [CONFIRMATION-URL] placeholder in the newsletter content to allow recipients to reactivate subscription
- remind that subscribers will be deleted if not activated in 5 days
Therefore, please keep in mind there is the risk to loose all recipients that ignore this newsletter.
You can read guide, faqs… (see links in right sidebar). There is also the support forum hosted on WP.org.
Please consider my hard work to keep the plugin update and compliant to new laws. Of course you can contribute donating some money to me.
