I am currently helping on a website for a local charity. They have easymail 2.4.9 and tried sending a newsletter in April to 1400 people. About 400 of those were failed sendings. Another was done in June with a few more emails with the same sort of results. It is not wrong emails as some sent first time but not second and vice versa. Any idea on the problems?

If you have WP 3.4, there was an issue in mail library bundled in WP 3.4 if php safe mode on. Maybe it's your case, so you can upgrade to WP 3.4.1.

I believe they are still on WP 3.0 due to compatibility errors with their theme. Could this be the problem? Or something else?

I suggest that you double check your batch sending settings (read the inline help in settings). Then, you can debug some newsletters sending all newsletter emails to you and see what happens (debug option is in plugin setting page).

Hi, I sent to myself, and I only get the first 999. The rest do not send. Does this mean that the problem is with my hosting company and can only send 1000 in a set time period? Would there be a way round it or a way to split the list into batches?

I suggest that you ask your provider about mail sending limits (per day, per hour, per batch...) and then set up batch sending settings in Newsletters → Settings → tab Batch sending
