Way to automatically subscribe all registered users?

Hello,
On our site we want all registered users to get our newsletter by default. Unfortunately the registration process sets the subscription status to negative and a separate newsletter subscription is needed. We can also not edit the subscription status of our registered users but they need to do it themselves. We have found no way to change the default subscription status to positive so at the moment we are sending our newsletters to all registered users rather than subscribing users. This unfortunately makes so that there is no way to unsubscribe for the users who don't want the newsletter (other than completely removing the registration). We still want the users to be able to set their subscription status to negative on their profile page if they don't want the newsletter, but it should be positive by default.

Is there any way to set so that all registered users get the newsletter by default without separately subscribing and also a way for us to change the subscription status of previously registered users to positive without having to contact them and ask them to change their subscription status?

Hi, thanks for your remarks.
For the moment, you can edit the users subscription state as administrator. Enter the backend and go to Users → Users: click on usernames to edit user profiles. At the botton of the profile you can setup the subscription option.
In next release the new users will choose about subscription on registration form.

Thank you for the quick reply. The method you described is the one we have tried. Even a site administrator doesn't seem to have the rights to edit users subscription status. After saving the change the subscription just goes back to "No". Only the user himself can successfully change the value. Even if it did work, some way to change the value for all users at once would be much appreciated as we already have several hundred registered users and going through them all would be quite time consuming.

Having users choose about subscription in the registration form is a good idea. I just hope it will be compatible with the other plugins we use (Theme My Login and Register Plus) that handle the registration form. Any idea when the new version will be out?

For now a perfectly fine solution would be to manually add a bit of code that changes the default subscription value from No to Yes. I know PHP and am familiar with the Wordpress file structure but I haven't been able to figure out where and how I could make such a change. If for some reason it's not possible to change the default value then one should at least be able to change the names of the values (No to Yes and vice versa) and the newsletter plugins interpretation of the values so that it automatically subscribes everyone with the default value (the current No) instead.

I'm working on the new release. I hope it will be out in a couple of weeks (I'd like soon as possible, but I'm very busy with other works).
You found a bug: the admin should be able to change subscription state of other users.
For the moment I can help you with 2 hacks.
To solve the bug, open easymail.php, find the function called ALO_em_save_profile_optin and replace the entire function with this:
